Trial: King Oyster (LC to Grain)
Testing the vigor of an older King Oyster (Pleurotus eryngii) Liquid Culture (LC) syringe when put to grain. This trial is separate from our grocery store cloning project.
Progress Log
Start Date: Late May 2026
Method: Older LC syringe inoculated directly into sterilized grain jars.
Status: Success! The culture is looking incredibly healthy and aggressive.
6-5-2026 (Update): The jar is looking great and is nearly ready for a Grain to Grain (G2G) transfer. This particular King Oyster culture is showing the typical thick, ropey mycelium we expect from this species.
Jar 1: Looking healthy and nearly ready for G2G (6-05-2026).
6-10-2026 (Update): The jar is now past ready for a G2G transfer but still very viable. The mycelium is beautiful—very white and fluffy. I'll be getting to those transfers soon to expand this aggressive culture.
White, fluffy, and beautiful mycelium past ready for G2G (6-10-2026).
Next Steps
I'll be performing G2G transfers from this jar soon to expand the culture. Once we have enough spawn, I'll be moving this to a supplemented hardwood substrate for a fruiting trial.
